In the late 1960s, Vivienne Westwood met Malcolm McLaren, a British street artist who was interested in acts of rebellion rather than the typical 1950s fashion. Westwood was fascinated by Malcolm’s rebellious attitude and decided to make clothes for him. After a while, she decided to open her own shop, Let it Rock, in 1971. By this time, she had become more involved in biker clothing and rebranded her shop with a skull and crossbones.
Later, she began working with Andreas Kronthaler to produce a series of iconic fashion shows, including those featuring Kate Moss eating ice cream and Naomi Campbell falling off a ladder. They also wore white make-up, revealing mini-crunchy dresses, and corsets. Today, her designs are considered some of the best in the world.
