A 2017 Emmy winner for her semi-autobiographical coming out story on Master of None, the multihyphenate actor has made a name for herself as a writer (Boys Don’t Cry) and an advocate for women of color and LGBT rights. She’s also a major style star, appearing on the red carpet in gender-neutral looks and bringing a fresh, fashionable flair to projects like the Greg Berlanti-directed Little Shop of Horrors film and the Cinderella remake.
Dwight: Vivian comes from a musical family. Her mother was a session singer and her father a percussionist/flautist who worked with artists such as James Brown. In addition to singing & promoting, she & her partner Chris Parks own & operate their own label Baby Buddha Records. They’ve had to learn to be producers, managers, accountants, etc. in order to make their dream work.
The duo has released an album called Sunny One Day that takes you on a soulful journey from jazz to soft R&B.
